BASSO FEDELE & FIGLI Srl is a Company operating in the production and packing of edible oils since 1904. It is a company with a business spread all over the World, exports covering about 80% of the whole turnover, attested on 80 million euros yearly.

The Company is part of the Basso Invest Holding which also includes a Winary, a Catering Organization, an Energy Production a Logistics and a Farming Company BASSO FEDELE & FIGLI Srl exports to over 80 Countries worldwide, from the United States of America to Canada, from Australia to Japan, from Republic of South Africa to the Countries of the European Union, and many other areas of the five Continents.
Production is focused on a vast range of Quality Extra Virgin Olive Oils, including Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Regional Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Single Variety Extra Virgin Olive Oils, Dressing based on Extra Virgin Olive Oil, but also significant is the production of all other edible oils such as Pure Olive Oil, Olive Pomace Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Avocado Oil,Sunflower Seed Oil, Peanut Oil, Corn Oil, Soy Bean Oil.

Besides its house brand BASSO, and many other home brands, the Company packs a wide variety of Private Labels, most of which are property of prestigious groups from overseas. The number of total brands packed is around 120 on an estimate. Headquarter and production plant are located in Campania Region in a small town called San Michele di Serino, a few miles away from Avellino, the county main city.
The plant extends on a surface area of about 14.500m², and in the same location, BASSO also runs an Olive Pressing Mill for the production of selected Cold Extracted Extra Virgin Olive Oil from seedless Olives. The plant is located in a very strategic and economically convenient position, short distance from both Ports of Napoli and Salerno, and this makes inner road transportation of the goods very easy and fast, keeping BASSO very competitive on the Global market. The national market spreads both through the Distribution Channel and through the small retailers.
The Exports rely on a wide network made of agents, distributors and importers, and it is followed by an internal Export Team made of highly specialized professionals, expert on foreign trade and passionate at work.

Packing is performed following the dictations of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) system procedure for food safety. The Company is certified ISO by DNV, since December 1999. Running ISO certifications are ISO 9001/2008, ISO 14001/2004, ISO 22000/2005. In 2001, BASSO was awarded with the BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification confirmed at “grade A” level at all of the following Audits. In 2007 the IFS (International Food Standard) was also awarded with “Higher Level”. Latest achievements are SA 8000 Ethical Standard Certification released by DNV, Walmart Standard, and SEDEX Platform. With reference to specific branches of its products, the company is certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union in New York, and Halal Italia. Other product certifications refer to Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil. In this respect, the Company is in the position to meet the most advanced requirements of its Customers, and to attest itself as one of the first exporter of this product abroad. Basso Organic products are certified by the European Authorities under the EC Regulations (CE 834/2007) and also comply to the Japanese Agricultural Standard ( JAS ) and the US National Organic Program ( NOP ), to the Canadian Organic Regime ( COR ).

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Perfect balance between taste and organoleptic properties, this oil is characterized by an intense fruity flavor that is accompanied by a slightly spicy note, in perfect contrast to the light sweetness of fruit and herbs. This oil is the product of the best olives from three European Union countries. The Ogliarola and Coratina varieties of Puglia, come from Italy. The Arbequina and Hojiblanca varieties come from Spain. Finally, the Koroneiki variety comes from Greece, a very productive variety with great organoleptic qualities, whose ripening occurs from mid-November. Thanks to its extreme versatility, this type of oil is suitable for many uses. It can be used as a raw condiment for meat or fish based foods, used for the preparation of sauces or soups, or to enhance the taste of vegetables and side dishes.

Olive Oil

This product is the cornerstone of Basso production. It is obtained by paying particular attention so that the olives do not lose their properties during the manufacturing process. The unmistakable taste of olive oil, delicate to the point of not covering other flavors, decided enough to make its contribution felt in the dishes. The olives used to produce this great classic of Mediterranean cuisine come from Italian and Spanish cultivations, selected through precise quality standards. Versatility is a great feature of this product, which perfectly accompanies all types of dishes. Perfect for the preparation of sweet or savory dishes, raw or cooked, it still gives its best in the preparation of sauces and for vegetable preserves in oil. Its performance, thanks to its characteristics, is also excellent for frying.

Pomace Oil

The pomace is the “full-bodied” result of the pressing of the olives. Peels, kernels and pulp are pressed and then mixed with extra virgin olive oil to obtain this particular product rich in organoleptic properties. Characterized by a particularly high smoke point, it maintains its quality unaltered at temperatures too high for other types of oil. The olives from which pomace oil is obtained come exclusively from Italian and Spanish cultivations. It is an oil particularly suitable for giving crunchiness for the production of focaccia, bread, taralli and biscuits. The neutral flavor of this product also makes it particularly suitable for seasoning raw and grilled. Its resistance to high temperatures makes it perfect for obtaining light and golden fried food.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The 100% Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a particular Oil which combines taste and flavor of the oils obtained with the best Southern Italian Olive varieties. It has a fruity flavor of medium intensity, not at all aggressive, which is offered to the nose with delicate persistent vegetal notes. The bitter and spicy aftertaste is skillfully softened by the sweet presence of almond flavor. From Puglia the olives of the Ogliarola and Coratina qualities. The first, more specifically, is a variety typical of the Agro Bitontino and of the center / south-west of Bari province.Sicilian olives are instead of the Biancolilla variety, so defined for the change in color of the fruit during the ripening cycle. Among one of the oldest Sicilian varieties, it is grown in the provinces of Messina, Palermo, Agrigento, Catania and Ragusa. The beneficial properties of organic oil make it recommended for the raw seasoning of all types of food aimed at children, pregnant women and the elderly.

Flavored Oils

The quality of Basso Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the variety of flavors of selected products. Chili Pepper, Rosemary, Garlic, Oregano, Porcini Mushrooms, Truffle, Basil, Lemon: the balanced combination of flavors that enhances any type of recipe.

Grape Seed Oil

This type of oil is obtained from the processing of grape seeds, together with the skins and pomace. Its richness in vitamin E and polyphenols makes it a natural antioxidant and a great ally for cardiovascular activity. It is suitable for frying thanks to its very high smoke point (235 °). Straw yellow in color, it has a basically neutral flavor and aroma. The dried grape seeds, as well as the skins and pomace, with which the grape seed oil is produced, come exclusively from Italian territories. Raw, it goes very well with fresh cheeses, vegetables and salads, especially if combined with a few drops of balsamic vinegar. It also brilliantly enriches the flavors of white meats, soups, risotto, cold dishes, fish and shellfish.

Rice Oil

With a delicate flavor, this type of oil is the bearer of countless benefits. The antioxidant properties of vitamin E and Gamma Otyzanol, present in this oil in the right quantities, represent an excellent remedy against aging. Furthermore, being a hypoallergenic product, it is an excellent alternative for those suffering from intolerances to other types of oils. The rice grains used for this product belong to the Oryza Sativa L. variety. This specific type comes from the Chinese, Indian and Thai regions, places where rice is not only the main ingredient of the diet, but a real cultural element. Best if used it raw as a dressing on salads or foods based on fish or vegetables. Its resistance to high temperatures makes it a perfect solution for frying or skipping food.

Oil Other

With a clear straw yellow color, this oil is perfect for raw seasoning. It is typically used in South American cuisine, which guarantees a touch of overseas originality on the dishes. It is not very suitable for frying because it has a low resistance to high temperatures. It can be used to season both cooked and raw foods, to which it gives a very particular flavor. Perfect on salads or fresh vegetables, as well as for the preparation of sauces and dishes based on fish and chicken.

Corn Oil

The peculiarity of this type of oil is its richness of polyunsaturated fatty acids, combined, on the contrary, with an almost total absence of saturated fat. These properties are essential for those wishing to support a diet aimed at containing cholesterol in the blood. The seeds of Zea Mais, processed after their drying, come only and exclusively from territories that are part of the European Union. Used as a raw condiment, it manages to enhance the flavor of the dishes without overlying it. It is excellent as a condiment for both cooked and raw foods.

Sunflower Oil

This type of oil has numerous beneficial characteristics: its richness in linoleic acid and vitamin E make it a valid choice in diets as well as a powerful ally against aging and the arrival of wrinkles. Its performance at high temperatures is deliberately kept low precisely to maintain these characteristics. Using it raw is advised for salads and cold dishes. It is also very suitable to preserve vegetable or as a base for the emulsion of sauces.

Peanuts

Of all seed oils, peanut oil is the one that comes closest to extra virgin olive oil in terms of chemical properties. It is in fact recommended in the diets of those who want to counteract the accumulation of cholesterol and triglycerides. An oil whose resistance to high temperatures also makes it among the most suitable for frying, with a smoke point that reaches the surprising temperature of 230°. In addition to frying, peanut oil can also give great results for the preparation of vegetable preserves or as a substitute for butter for the preparation of sweets. Phenomenal, moreover, its use to make mayonnaise, to which it gives a decidedly original flavor.

Oil Other

Palm oil has completely unique characteristics: its chemical composition makes it very similar to butter, which makes it an ideal product for the preparation of baked dishes. A great performance at high temperatures (240 °) also makes it an excellent choice for frying. With a basically neutral taste and aroma, it is a product rich in vitamin E and extremely easy to digest. The characteristic similarity with butter, from a chemical point of view, makes it perfect for the production of baked dishes such as croissants and biscuits, of which it guarantees crispness and crunchiness. The resistance to high temperatures also makes it ideal for any type of frying, even mixed with other suitable types of oil.

Oil Other

Soybean oil is distinguished from all other types of oils by the good amount of Omega 3 fat inside. Its use is to be considered best as raw, recommended for those who need to fight bad cholesterol. Obtained from the extraction of Max L. Wisteria seeds, this GMO is a clear dressing with a neutral scent, obtained according to the strictest controls during processing.
